ILDONG Probiotics got Independent Conclusion of GRAS Status
Ildong Bioscience, a health functional food business affiliate of Ildong Holdings, announced that it has acquired “self-affirmed GRAS” in the U.S. for its probiotic & postbiotic raw materials.
General Recognized As Safe (GRAS) is a system that verifies the safety of new food ingredients entering the U.S. market and determines their suitability through verification by toxic and risk assessment experts.
The raw materials of Ildong Bioscience, which acquired GRAS this time, are a total of seven types, including four types of Lactobacillus, two types of Bifidobacterium, and one type of Bacillus.
As a result, Ildong Bioscience has secured a total of 19 U.S. self-verified GRAS raw materials in addition to 12 existing ones, further enhancing its global competitiveness in the probiotics raw material market.
In particular, it is expected that it will be more advantageous to enter overseas markets such as the U.S. by acquiring GRAS for a number of probiotic raw materials that are highly used in the market.
An official from Ildong Bioscience said, “Self-affirmed GRAS is one of the important criteria for the level and safety of raw materials in domestic and foreign markets,” adding, “We plan to try to differentiate ourselves with original technologies such as various probiotic raw materials and quadruple coating methods.”
Meanwhile, Ildong Bioscience is a health functional food company established in 2016 as an affiliate of Ildong Holdings based on Ildong Pharmaceutical’s probiotic-related source technology and supplies probiotic raw materials and products to leading domestic and foreign companies.
