Heat treatment at 70°C for 80 seconds

After heat treatment at 70°C for 80 seconds, the viability of both B. coagulans IDCC 1201 and the spore were NOT significantly affected (P<0.05).

Extreme Acid Tolerance

The spores of B. coagulans IDCC 1201 showed significantly higher acid tolerance, showing about 66% of survival ratio at pH 3 for 3 hours.

Better Bile Acid Tolerance

Unlike vegetative cells, spore cells were only a little affected by 0.3% bile salts after 6 hours of incubation. Unlike vegetative cells, spore cells indicated about 40% cell viability.
